There’s good news for recruiters working in the automotive industry! According to numerous reports, including this one from USA Today, hiring is about to “speed up” for nearly all companies in the near future.
Auto factories are apparently running at nearly full capacity, with demand continuing to grow. Companies that have held back on hiring or investing in new equipment and/or floor space now almost have no choice: they must start investing, and that includes hiring new employees.
That also means potential placement opportunities for third-party recruiters! According to the aforementioned USA Today article, auto companies pay competitive salaries when it comes to engineers and other white-collar positions.
The article also listed the following hiring plans of the larger companies within the automotive industry:
- Ford expects to hire 2,200 salaried workers in information technology, product development, and manufacturing.
- General Motors is hiring 4,000 engineers and computer professionals at four technical centers in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, and Texas to develop software and other innovations.
- Chrysler will add more than 3,500 workers this year at factories in Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan.
- At TRW Automotive, recruiters are looking for 50 engineers in the Detroit area to work on new safety features.
Those are just some of the hiring plans that auto companies have in mind for the rest of this year, as well as in 2014 and beyond.
