The top candidates to fill your open job orders, temp assignments, or contracts are currently employed by someone else, but would make a change for the right opportunity. They have a successful track record, they are happy in their job with a positive attitude, and are often the exact caliber of candidate your clients will hire.
The Wright Organization, which conducts and publishes surveys, recently released the following information:
“85% Of the employed individuals who responded to the survey said they would be open to changing their job.”
Think about this high percentage for a minute. Most individuals working are just waiting for your sourcing or recruiting call. However, below are seven reasons that top candidates are NOT actively hunting for a new job:
- They are worried about their current employer finding out they are conducting a search.
- They do not know how to work their professional network for referrals.
- The demands of their career don’t leave them with time to dedicate to a search.
- They don’t know how to conduct an effective search.
- The Internet does not offer confidentiality.
- The instability of the job market (or other factors) has caused them to put their search on the back burner.
- They don’t know their value or marketability.
Most individuals are on automatic pilot through most of their life. They may not be happy in their current job, but they are comfortable and have adapted to their rut. Unfortunately, many individuals are forced to consider a career move when they find out their company is going to downsize and they feel their job is in jeopardy.
It is up to YOU to show these top candidates the value of completing your profile form so you can become their eyes and ears in the job market. Once you explain that your process is 100% confidential and you will only call them when you are representing their next logical career move, it is easy to attract top talent to represent.
