Recruiters: More Job Orders for Newly Created Positions

by | Feb 29, 2016 | Top Echelon Blog

Recruiters, like everybody else, enjoy good news. For recruiters, good news usually takes the form of more job orders. According to a recent Top Echelon poll, there’s some good news to be had, and it pertains to the types of job orders that companies are currently issuing to recruiters.

We asked TE Network™ recruiters the following question:

How many of your job orders are for newly created positions (NOT replacement job orders)?

Results:

The choice of answers that we provided is listed below, along with the percentage of recruiters that selected each one:

  • None of them — 6.3%
  • Less than 25% — 12.7%
  • Between 25% and 50% — 21.5%
  • Between 50% and 75% — 5.1%
  • More than 75% — 24.1%
  • All of them — 30.4%

Summary:

Here’s the good news: the vast majority of those recruiters who participated in the poll have more job orders for newly created positions. How many? Well, let’s look at it from the other end of the spectrum. Only 6.3% of the recruiters who responded indicated that none of their job orders are for such positions.

Which response was the most popular? Over 30% of recruiters stated that all of their job orders are for newly created positions. Another 24.1% of respondents indicated that “more than 75%” of their orders are for those positions.

The third-most popular answer was “between 25% and 50%” at 21.5% of the vote. The other answers garnered a few votes. However, the important thing is that those recruiters still have job orders for newly created positions. Once again, only 6.3% of the recruiters who responded indicated that none of their job orders are for such positions. That bears repeating. (So I repeated it.)

Analysis and Conclusion:

Not only are companies willing to hire, but they’re also creating new positions in the process. This means more job orders for those newly created positions. Company officials realize that they need to add to their staff if they’re going to increase productivity and profits.

Even better than that, they realize that in order to find the best candidates and hire them, they need the services of a search consultant. The only thing better than a company creating a brand-new position is the company paying a recruiter to help fill that position.

Are you getting more job orders? If so, are they replacement job orders or are they for newly created positions? If it’s the latter, have you seen an increase in these types of orders lately? And what’s the percentage of newly created job orders vs. “replacement” orders?
