2 Tips That EVERY Recruiter Should Practice

by | Jan 26, 2016 | Recruiter Training, Top Echelon Blog

(Editor’s note: In our previous blog post, we presented two tips from industry trainer Jon Bartos. We now have two more recruiter tips, this time from renowned trainer Barb Bruno of Good as Gold Training and Development.)

I’m often asked for the best tips that I can share with recruiters, those tips that will lead most directly to more placements and more billings.

I have two tips that EVERY recruiter should know about, and more importantly, should practice:

#1—Every day, write down your top six priorities that you WILL commit to the next day.

These are non-negotiable priorities that represent the things on your desk that are closest to money. You must write these priorities down every day before you leave work, and you must finish them the following day before you leave work.  (And of course, write down a list of six more priorities.) You and I both know that no matter how early you get to work, you can be interrupted and get sidetracked.

#2—Focus on send-outs.

Your job is to get candidates in front of your decision makers. Every day, arrive at work and ask yourself this question: “Where is my send-out today?” If you want to increase your production and income, it’s easy . . . just increase the number of send-outs you book. (My definition of a send-out is a candidate being interviewed by a decision maker, either by phone or face-to-face.)

Every recruiter should implement these two tips immediately, stick to them, and track the results. You might be surprised by how quickly your production as a recruiter increases!
