In the world of recruiting, anything can happen . . . just ask a recruiter. And that’s exactly what we’re doing right now!
We want to hear about your craziest recruiting stories. These stories could be about clients. They could be about candidates. They could be about another recruiter. They could be about all three. It doesn’t matter.
It just has to be something wild, outrageous, and if possible, unbelievable. Because after all, no matter how unbelievable it might seem, if it happened in recruiting, it probably happened. That’s because the world of recruiting can be stranger than fiction.
We’ve already published one crazy recruiting story, and what a story it was. A recruiter’s candidate doesn’t show up for their first day of work because they were kidnapped and threatened by a local gang . . . and they still started the job two weeks later. Sounds unbelievable, but it is indeed true.
These don’t have to be stories that just happened in 2015. They can be stories from anytime during your recruiting career. Heck, if you’ve heard a story second-hand, you can throw that into the mix, too. Sure, it may border on “urban legend” status, but why not? Let’s have some fun with this.
If you’re a recruiter, you have to laugh whenever you get the chance. After all, your next fall-off or no-show is only a phone call away.
There are two ways you can submit your craziest recruiting story:
- You can email your story to marketing@topechelon.com.
- You can post the story by including it in the comments section at the end of this blog.
Keep in mind that you can remain anonymous, if you would like, and by submitting your story to us, you give us permission to include the story in a future blog or social media post. Don’t worry, though. If need be, we will change the names to protect the innocent (and the not-so innocent).
What crazy things have happened to you as a recruiter? What things have made you want to pull out your hair and hang up your headset, question your sanity and the sanity of those around you, and seriously consider giving up the 9-to-5 grind and riding the rails as a hobo instead? (Okay, maybe not that last one.)
Dig through your mental archives and submit your craziest recruiting story. Let’s see whose story is truly the craziest!
